The RSM US Foundation awards talented and promising accounting, business and technology students annually. We are honored to support students across the U.S. in alleviating the financial burden of funding their education so they may focus on achieving their goals — in school and beyond.
I was born and raised in Philadelphia. I have two younger sisters, and we were all raised by a single mom. My mom, who’s a first-generation immigrant from Colombia, didn’t know about wealth management; she only knew to work to support my sisters and me.
Accounting appealed to me because I needed a track that was a bit more linear and definitive. I wanted something that I could also apply to my personal life, since I wasn’t exposed to a lot of financial management growing up. I know financial literacy is important and is a skill that is lacking in many underserved communities.
The Power of Inclusion scholarship has been a blessing. It’s such a relief to not have to worry about taking out a loan and looking for cosigners. I also don’t have to find part-time work to supplement my income, which will allow me to focus on my studies and prepare for a career.
I am so appreciative of the RSM US Foundation for this wonderful opportunity to continue to pursue my dreams. I think it’s important for people to apply for these types of scholarship opportunities—ones that are specific to their major, and directly sponsored by a company. I didn’t think I’d win. I just hoped for the best, and it’s been life-changing.
