As a licensed attorney with an accounting degree and a LLM in tax, Fred helps clients and tax professionals navigate the legislative landscape of tax policy. He has spent much of his career at the intersection of tax technical, tax policy and tax industry on a global scale. His tax technical experience includes a specialization in the research and development tax credit, assisting clients and engagement teams with unique interpretational issues and emerging regulatory, legislative and judicial developments in this area. He works closely with the firm’s go-to market tax team and the Washington National Tax practice, advising RSM professionals on managing proposed legislative changes and cultivating strategies around the firm’s industry-first mindset.
Throughout his career, Fred has interacted with tax directors at Fortune 500 companies, government taxing authorities, congressional tax staff committees, tax engagement partners, subject matter specialists and C-suite leadership. His work with global industry, national tax and tax policy has made him a trusted advisor to the highest levels of Fortune 100 organizations.
Fred is passionate about client service through the lens of a tax professional. His career has been dedicated to helping client servers understand the capabilities and data points necessary to manage the rapid changes in tax policies and best advise their clients. Prior to joining RSM, his Big Four experience included driving strategy for tax industry leaders, advising on policy-related matters and initiatives, building a tax leasing practice, and serving as a global tax industry resident for three industries, as well as a liaison to U.S. tax policy.
Fred is a skilled communicator who focuses on what matters most in tax policy and is able to distill that information into understandable data points for tax professionals and clients. He is a frequent speaker and presenter at forums discussing tax policy and legislation, including the Tax Executives Institute. He thrives on sharing information, both written and verbal, through webcasts, newsletters, webinars and daily alerts to create a constant flow of communication that drives tremendous value with clients.
Fred is a die-hard fan of The Beatles. He appreciates the harmonic sound of their later work, especially the song, “The Two of Us,” written by John Lennon and Paul McCartney just before the Beatles broke up.
